A record 550 entries from 31 countries for the 2016 Masters World Track Championships is the best ever and as a result, caused some organizational changes to the venue. The event was held in Manchester, England from October 1-8.
In order to accommodate the increase in track centre spaces for the competitors, the central warm up area will not be available and riders should be aware of this and where possible bring their own rollers for warm ups. It would also be helpful if the UK riders can assist those coming in to the country for the event who may not be able to do this.
The racing schedule has also increased and the amended version is on the event web site along with the latest list of competitors.
Some interesting facts and figures for the planned program are 200 sprint qualifying time trials, 267 sprint matches, 191 pursuit heats, 155 time trials, 32 points races, 33 scratch races (including the Brian Cossavella Memorial), two hour record attempts, plus team pursuit and team sprint competitions for both men and women. And in order to celebrate the winners, 77 Victory Ceremonies are needed.
